Knocki turns any surface into a smart remote control — and it’s on sale

Clap on. Clap off. That slogan from the 1980s sound-activated gadget The Clapper was enough to spark envy in kids who had to turn on lights the old-fashioned way. Now, as an adult, you can add that same energy to your home with a device that does a whole lot more. Meet Knocki.

The Knocki WiFi puck can turn any wall, table, or surface in your home into a smart remote for your connected devices. Just select a surface to attach it to — from there, you’ll define all the things you want it to do on the app.

For example, you can knock on your nightstand two times in the morning to hit snooze and start your coffee pot. You can sync it to your iPhone so that tapping on a wall makes it ring. You can even set it up under your coffee table, then set up a signal that dims the lights and turns on Netflix. It can be programmed with up to 10 unique tap gestures in total.

Here’s an overview:

Knocki is compatible with Philips Hue, IFTTT, SONOS, Harmony, Nest, Spotify, Ecobee, and more. Since it’s still pretty new, you can expect the possibilities to continue to grow as new integrations and app updates come out.

It’s usually $99, but for a limited time, you can slash the price down to $59.49 in honor of Valentine’s Day using the code VDAY2021.
